Valentine's Surprise....say it with a LoreleiBlu miniature!

Cupid is right around the corner! Many of my collectors gift themselves on Valentine's day with a miniature doll or that special piece of quirky doll house furniture or another original creation from my studio. That way they get just the right addition to their miniature world. And at the same time they make it easy on their loved one who might be stumped by what to get them!

It's more than the season of the Witch...........so I have created the Vampire Count and I had the time of my life doing it. It's kind of like writing a romance novel. Creating my characters the way I want them to look.....to present the feeling and flavor of what I choose at the moment.

At that moment when I created Count Morpheus Rex I had the vision of a Vampire that you'd feel good about when you sat and shared a nice glass of RED wine...of course! And then when the chat went to "what blood type are you my dear" you'd excuse yourself from the table and bolt out the door! OK, you get the point....now meet the Count:

Countdown to Spooky Town!

I can almost smell the special Witch's brew bubbling....how about  you? A little over a month before All Hallows' Eve and my staff is excited for you! There are many choices to spooky-up your miniature mansion, from witches and vampires to their furniture and accessories...my studio is full with wonderful one of a kind creations to haunt and delight.

Why Not....I Would!

How much is too much? So you have multiple doll houses and room boxes...me too! And you feel like there's always room for a new friend to move into your miniature world...me too! No matter how hard you rationalize you know that the old "just one more" will become "I just need a bigger space to move my new collections into".

New Year.........Even More Magic and Fun!

So how much time do you enjoy the things that give you PLEASURE? If you're like most you've done plenty for others over the years and didn't carve out much fun just for you!

Here's a new way to look at 2018, "in order to change the output I must change the input". Making the time for YOU and investing more of it with your miniature world is healthy....look at it as your own personal therapist and the big difference is you're in control and can visit any time you allow yourself to not sweat the small stuff in your life.

I'm living proof of it, I decided to fully remodel one of my larger doll houses and I'm having a ball creating a new environment for my miniature friends. In fact we had a party not long ago to celebrate Burns night in my remodel....check it out:

It’s Burns night in the doll house. The miniature beings who live there love any reason to celebrate and Burns night is one of their favorites. 

They toast The Bard with a wee dram of whiskey and partake of a lovely haggis! 

It is a wonderful way to keep out the cold of a winters evening and enjoy the beautiful words of himself Robert Burns. As they gather together you can hear them say, “Sla’inte mhath! 

Therapy.....yes sir, it's a grand way to escape from the day to day stuff we all get stuck in at times and to let the fantasy come back into our life, even if only for short bursts of time. My doll houses are one of the things that keep me grounded so I still see my craft as a labor of love, something I look forward to doing and sharing with other artists and collectors the world over.

So take a break to explore what makes you feel like a kid again...could be that dropping in on my Etsy Shop  will give  you that feeling of fantasy. I always have the kettle on and would be delighted to share a proper cup a tea with you!

A Haunting We Will Go!

Show of hands...........who enjoys the last day of October as much as I do? Wow, look at all the hands up and the huge smiles on your faces, that's the spirit, literally. 

With "All Hallows' Eve" fast approaching I've picked up my magic wand and created some new friends. Meet one such new star, the Countess:

Vampire Countess Luna Moondragon

Luna is dressed from head to shoes in luscious silk

I hand painted her underskirt and bodice then applied tiny handmade roses to her gown.

Vampire Countess Luna Moondragon also has on black silk bloomers with a black lace petticoat, beautiful purple silk slippers with lace and silk ribbon accents, rings on both hands, a lovely bracelet, tiny earrings and aubergine silk hair. To top off her one of a kind style I created a pewter skull walking stick and a specially made fan. She is the perfect Countess of royalty to bring any doll house or room box to life!

Back with Beautiful Miniature Doll Beds

I sure am pleased to be back to doing what I love and do best.........creating OOAK miniature dolls and dollhouse furnishings that set the tone for making your treasured collection even more special!

My days out of the LoreleiBlu studio have given me time to re-charge and appreciate my family of friends and collectors the world over. And to remember how fortunate I am to have such a great supporting cast.

For years Olde World and Shabby Chic have been two favorite styles that move me and it's in those themes that I proudly present two of my latest dollhouse miniature hand crafted beds.

Anastasia - Olde World Bed

I created the Anastasia as a One Of A Kind (OOAK) totally hand painted 1/12th scale dollhouse bed. Painted in a black lacquer base with beautifully painted flowers and fine gold details. 

The Anastasia is dressed in rich silk and fine cotton fabrics, has antique handmade tatted lace on the duvet and features a real fur throw along with six lovely pillows. I've made them so you are free to rearrange and present the comfort and look you're going for. I've also added two beautiful bands of purple silk cord to embellish the base and enhance it's olde world charm. 

Now if Shabby Chic is your cup of tea.........feast your eyes on The Georgiana:

Georgiana -  A Shabby 4-Poster Chic Beauty

I started by painting the Georgiana a lovely sage green in crackle finish and then I distressed it to replicate wear. The customized headboard is hand painted with roses and a blue ribbon swag. I then overlaid a wash to give it the right aged patina of a very old and well loved piece of furniture. 

To achieve the Shabby Chic look I was going for I dressed it in a soft cotton duvet and sheets with a mix of antique and vintage lace. The throw I created at the foot of the bed is from a piece of original ladies handmade lace collar from the 1800's. It is made with silk thread and is as soft as a whisper! To complete the bed dressings there are 6 lovely pillows embellished with silk ribbon (complimenting the headboard), silk cord and antique lace.

Both beds are delicate beauties filled with creative flair and lovely details. They are perfect for your special miniature bedrooms, room box or cottage.

Which Witch is Which.....take your Pick! Part 2

Time for a show of hands.......how many miniature doll fans can't wait for Halloween? Well I'm right there with you! My favorite time of year for Witches and other characters that go "bump in the night".

Here is another example of how much fun I have developing my characters. I call it my 3-Cs process which stands for Concept - Creation - Costuming. I've been creating and expanding my family of Witches for you to enjoy and to give you the opportuity to make them your very own:

Goode Witch Hattie Twistedthistle is a true one of a kind miniature. She was sculpted with Prosculpt polymer clay, with a wire armiture so you can gently pose her. There were no molds or pre-made porcelain parts used in the creation of this doll. Every inch of her is made by my hands. Goode Witch Hattie is dressed in lovely tissue silk and has a white vintage cotton lace slip underneath her skirt as well as very pretty bloomers. Over this she is wearing a distressed cotton apron with a chain attached that has her keys and other things she needs in her daily life. She has a satin cape and leather hat, that are removable and she carries her own custom made broom. Her hair is lite olive green viscose done in an Edwardian up-do.
