Grand High Witch....It's Her Perfect Week to Haunt!

There are all kinds of witches.....good ones, seasonal ones, not so good ones, career ones, helpful ones and evil ones............the Grand High Witch put the Ug in the Ugly one, don't ya think!

Most of the witches I create have a somewhat whimsical spooky look to them but recreating the Grand High Witch herself moves her to the very top on the LoreleiBlu spook-o-meter. There is nothing whimsical to the eye….she’s just plain nasty….like her character in the movie, Witches. She morphs from beautiful and pleasant, into one scary dame, right before your eyes. Now that's what I call movie magic. 

Angelica Houston is one of my favorite actresses and in real life everything about her spells class. But when in character….everything about her as a witch spelled “look away before I takes your eyesight”. 

What a dame…..the Witch of Witches for sure. This Halloween keep an eye out for her, while you still can! If you like witches and you have not seen the movie of same name........it's a must.  I really enjoyed being commissioned to create the Grand High Witch in all her nightmarish glory for one of my very special collectors.......how about you, what's your fancy?

Frankie and his Misses...........they're back!

What comes to mind when you hear the name Frankenstein? A science experiment, big guy with a flattop and stitches all over, tortured soul with a second chance to breathe life into his world, Boris Karloff (dating myself). And what about his wife, Mrs. Frankie, she developed a personality of her own, a real trend setter with attitude.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Frankenstein have been part of my creations for some time. It's been fun getting to know their story from when I was just a little girl and then many years later having the opportunity to keep their legend alive by being commissioned to create my vision of the handsome couple for a valued collector that reached out to me through LoreleiBlu Miniatures!

Frankie and his mate were scary way before Hollywood developed the kind of special effects that now makes one fear entire countries not just things that go bump in the night.

Pheasant Under Glass...........nope, A SKULL!

Although creating dolls is my favorite artistic passion I wanted to mix up my studio production time  so I started creating skulls in  glass domes (sounds like a new TV Sci-Fi series). 

Sculpting each doll from a solid block of polymer clay (no molds used, ever, to create my dolls) and making them poseable are major talents I use in my creative process. That, along with full original costuming breathes life into my OOAK characters. However.....halloween time is perfect to add new products for my collectors.

With my Skull in a Glass Dome series, I distress each skull one at a time and design a personality for these wonderful resin skulls (from Cathy's Minis). My vision starts from the neck up which forces my creative process to totally focus on styling hair, neck and facial dressings to achieve the look I'm going for. And boy do I have fun at my studio "beauty shop" designing them!

Pre-Party Prep..........my newest Dia Los Muertos creation!

Just two weeks before Halloween and then add one day and it's the celebrated Day of the Dead (Spanish: Día de Muertos) a Mexican holiday celebrated throughout Mexico, in particular the Central and South regions, and by people of Mexican ancestry living in other places, especially the United States.

As the pre-party starts up in my miniatures studio here in Vegas a new member of LoreleiBlu Miniatures has made her way to center stage.

A Night Fairy Can Be Very Scary............or NOT!

A long time ago in a land right here in the West, I had a party in my Secret Garden and that's when the idea to create my first Night Fairy came to mind. With my garden filled with a favorite gathering of friends we took a vote and all decided that a new breed of fairy should be introduced into our circle. 

And here she is.....meet Sabrina The Night Fairy:

She is a beautiful bat-winged wonder of sheer elegance

Dressed in fine color-changing silk adorned with black crepe silk sleeves

Her sculpted corset was my favorite to create

And oh I had such fun designing and making her faux black onyx and pewter pendant with Swarovski crystal displayed at the tip. To add to her fantasy I added a copper waist chain with her two most valuable keys and I topped her off with a fitting metal ax/sword/wand combo to keep all those in your Secret Garden on their toes. 

Speaking of toes......wait till you see the beautiful purple silk shoes I created and fitted her with! Head to toe she is fully poseable and hauntingly gorgeous, wouldn't you agree!

Witchy Woman......Your Time is Now!

Three weeks from today the streets will be teaming with screaming kids and parents alike. Another Halloween is almost here and what a treat it is for tricksters, fortune tellers, witches, ghouls and your favorite super hero goblins.......yummy!

It's a day where I could be anyone or anything I wanted to be. Maybe a princess....or a hobo riding the rails...or a cartoon character...or my favorite actor - villain or hero. The world was my stage and I so loved playing all the parts. And years later I turned my love for fantasy, mystery and the element of "I can be anyone I want to be" into my miniature creations. It's all at my fingertips and I sure do have fun creating for me...and for my collectors.
