What's a Buhgeeber, you ask!

Prior to stepping into the world of creating OOAK miniatures (5 inch dolls) I designed dolls in the 10 inch to 14 inch size. There were Fairies, Flower Sellers from England's days gone by, Angry Housewives and a number of other special dolls including a series of what I call "Buhgeebers.

It all started by luck....Buhgeebers are fun whimsical ladies and gents I created that are fearless inventors, have special features, enjoy a flair for drama, make one smile and border on the edge of silly-fantasy. I owe it all to my Husband who one day got spooked by me showing up at our back door un-announced and said "hi" just as he was going out that same door. It startled him and caused him to say "wife, you scared the buhgeebers out of me!" After a good laugh together (and a few other colorful words said by him that I won't repeat) my mind started on another tour of inventing...what would a Buhgeeber look like I wondered.

"What the heck say you, how will I recognize them?" Glad you asked, instead of telling you, let me introduce you.........voila:

I parted with a few early on but we liked them so much I decided to keep some of them around as friends who made us smile. They helped keep our focus on the lighter more adventurous side of life. Well with the election behind us let's re-focus back on fantasy that makes us laugh...or at least smile. So I've decided it's time to send a few of my little friends off to other parts of the world to do what they do best.........lighten the load for collectors who dare to dream, like to smile and enjoy thinking of a life filled with adventure and magical wonder.

What are YOU Thankful for?

I'm thankful for collectors that receive and enjoy great pleasure from owning my creations! That inspires me and gives me so many wonderful opportunities to exercise my passion for inventing many new characters.

When I was a little girl I enjoyed coloring and drawing, then painting followed by years of creating photo-realistic drawings. Some years later I started my doll making, first with larger 14 inch poseable dolls of all types from fairies to other whimsical creations. I discovered that it gave me great pleasure as a professional artist and also delivered the same to like-minded collectors. All of those experiences led me to finally uncover my true passion.........creating 1:12 scale miniature dolls (5.5 inches), furniture and other accessories for miniature dolls houses that are as different as their owners are.

Halloween..........it's Elvira time!

Another benefit of living and having my studio located in Las Vegas is knowing that Elvira lives right here in my town, just a stones throw away. 

In addition to our famous "Vegas Strip" with 24-7 gaming, world class dining, entertainment and a constant flow of major Celebs, we have Elvira as a local hanging out around our desert........pretty cool, eh! 

So one day I decide to pay tribute to her and create a miniature doll with a personality, face and figure that many of us remember fondly. To me Elvira has all three........she is a modern day beauty that draws a crowd whenever she makes an appearance in full character.

Grand High Witch....It's Her Perfect Week to Haunt!

There are all kinds of witches.....good ones, seasonal ones, not so good ones, career ones, helpful ones and evil ones............the Grand High Witch put the Ug in the Ugly one, don't ya think!

Most of the witches I create have a somewhat whimsical spooky look to them but recreating the Grand High Witch herself moves her to the very top on the LoreleiBlu spook-o-meter. There is nothing whimsical to the eye….she’s just plain nasty….like her character in the movie, Witches. She morphs from beautiful and pleasant, into one scary dame, right before your eyes. Now that's what I call movie magic. 

Angelica Houston is one of my favorite actresses and in real life everything about her spells class. But when in character….everything about her as a witch spelled “look away before I takes your eyesight”. 

What a dame…..the Witch of Witches for sure. This Halloween keep an eye out for her, while you still can! If you like witches and you have not seen the movie of same name........it's a must.  I really enjoyed being commissioned to create the Grand High Witch in all her nightmarish glory for one of my very special collectors.......how about you, what's your fancy?

Frankie and his Misses...........they're back!

What comes to mind when you hear the name Frankenstein? A science experiment, big guy with a flattop and stitches all over, tortured soul with a second chance to breathe life into his world, Boris Karloff (dating myself). And what about his wife, Mrs. Frankie, she developed a personality of her own, a real trend setter with attitude.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Frankenstein have been part of my creations for some time. It's been fun getting to know their story from when I was just a little girl and then many years later having the opportunity to keep their legend alive by being commissioned to create my vision of the handsome couple for a valued collector that reached out to me through LoreleiBlu Miniatures!

Frankie and his mate were scary way before Hollywood developed the kind of special effects that now makes one fear entire countries not just things that go bump in the night.

Pheasant Under Glass...........nope, A SKULL!

Although creating dolls is my favorite artistic passion I wanted to mix up my studio production time  so I started creating skulls in  glass domes (sounds like a new TV Sci-Fi series). 

Sculpting each doll from a solid block of polymer clay (no molds used, ever, to create my dolls) and making them poseable are major talents I use in my creative process. That, along with full original costuming breathes life into my OOAK characters. However.....halloween time is perfect to add new products for my collectors.

With my Skull in a Glass Dome series, I distress each skull one at a time and design a personality for these wonderful resin skulls (from Cathy's Minis). My vision starts from the neck up which forces my creative process to totally focus on styling hair, neck and facial dressings to achieve the look I'm going for. And boy do I have fun at my studio "beauty shop" designing them!
